The Oberoi Group, founded in 1934, owns and manages 27 hotels and three cruisers in five countries under the luxury 'Oberoi' and five-star 'Trident' brands. The Group is also engaged in flight catering, managing airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters.

Awards and Accolades

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts have received awards and accolades. Three Oberoi hotels were ranked amongst the six best in the world by the readers in "Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2008". "The Oberoi Rajvilas", Jaipur; "The Oberoi Udaivilas", Udaipur and "The Oberoi Amarvilas", Agra were rated 2nd, 4th and 6th best hotels in the world respectively. In the same readers’ poll, The Oberoi Rajvilas, The Oberoi Udaivilas and The Oberoi Amarvilas were ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd best hotels respectively in Asia.

Hotels

The Oberoi Hotels was run under the banner of Associated Hotels of India brand before the partition, after the partition Associated Hotels Pakistan was formed which consisted of Hotels left over in Pakistan, the association was able to run the show in Pakistan till 1965 war, after which the hotels were taken over by the Pakistani government. M.S. Oberoi the founder of the chain lost quite a few prime properties to Pakistan.

Mr. Rai Bahadur Oberoi was the founder of this large empire. He was the pioneer who laid the foundation for the emergence of the hospitality industry in India.

Presently, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts includes 16 luxury hotels and three cruisers in India, Mauritius, Egypt, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

The last decade has witnessed the debut of new luxury Oberoi leisure hotels in India and abroad. In India, these hotels include The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur; The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra; Wildflower Hall, Shimla in the Himalayas; The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore; The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla and The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur. Overseas, the new hotels include The Oberoi Lombok in Indonesia, The Oberoi, Mauritius and The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh in Egypt. The Oberoi Zahra, Luxury Nile Cruiser, Egypt, was launched in 2007
